The worldwide community of museums will celebrate International Museum Day on 18th May 2019.
On the occasion of International Museum Day, Raman Science Centre in colaboration with Chhand Vaibhav, has organized an Exhibition- ‘Collections make Connections’ from May 17 to 19, where-in 25 collectors from Nagpur city associated with Chhand Vaibhav, have displayed their collections like Stamps & Coins, Antiques- Brass articles, Old Stamp papers, Indian Airforce Photographs, Gandhi Coins, Zodiac coins, Origami & Paper fold art, Soap carving collections, Gramophone records etc.
This exhibition was inaugurated on May 17, 2019 by Dr. Preety A. Trivedi, Head Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archeology; RTM Nagpur University Nagpur in presence of Shri Vijay Shankar Sharma, Project Co-ordinator, Raman Science Centre Nagpur.
While addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr. Trivedi explained how concepts of museum originated and why it is important to preserve the articles of past.
‘Museums store memory and tell stories. They have numerous objects in their collections that are basic to the memory of the communities we live in. These objects are the expressions of our natural and cultural heritage. Many of them are fragile, some endangered and they need special care and conservation. International Museum Day 2019 will be an occasion for visitors to discover and rediscover individual and collective memory’ said Vijay Shankar Sharma.
The exhibition will remain open for all the visitors of Raman Science Centre from 11.00 AM to 5.30 pm from 17 – 19 May 2019. People of Nagpur are requested to visit this unique exhibition in large number.
