AICTE sponsored two week Faculty Development Program on ‘3D printing for Industrial and Biomedical Applications’ from June 3 at G H Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur. The programme was inaugurated at the hands of chief guest, Dr Pulak Mohan Pandey, professor from IIT Delhi, in the gracious presence of Dr Preeti Bajaj, Director, GHRCE, Dr Rupesh Shelke, HOD Mechanical Engg Department, Dr Santosh Jaju and Dr Vibha Bora.
The FDP shall continue for two weeks from June 3 to June 15. The programme is sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The aim of this Faculty Development Program is to cover important topics related to 3D printing and its applications to industry and biomedical field.
The preamble of FDP was given by Dr Santosh Jaju, coordinator. He discussed the entire schedule of the two weeks which will cover broad topics related to 3D printing and its applications to industry and biomedical field, visits to hospital, biomedical research lab of VNIT, toothworks dental lab, hackathon and hands on sessions.
Dr Rupesh Shelke, HOD Mechanical Engineering department, briefed about the activities and achievements of the department. Dr Preeti Bajaj, director, GHRCE highlighted the global perspective of the 3D printing and support system and facilities developed and available in the institute.
Total 49 participants from various states like Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh and various colleges like Government Polytechnic, Nagpur, Government Engineering College, Chandrapur, Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, Terna Engineering College, Navi Mumbai, Government Polytechnic, Bramhapuri, PES Modern College of Engineering, Pune, EESCOET, Aurangabad, AKS University, Satna, MEDI -CAPS university, Indore, Government College of Engineering, Amravati, and many more have registered for the programme.
Day 1 of FDP covered expert lectures on ‘3D printing and tooling’ and ‘Biomedical application of 3D printing’ by Dr Pulak Mohan Pandey, IIT Delhi, Development of innovative biomedical products using TRIZ and AM by Dr. Mahesh Mawale, KITS, Ramtek and ‘Customized surgical guides for complex surgeries’ by Dr Sandeep Dahake, VNIT Nagpur.
Prof B Ravi, IIT Bombay, Dr Y Ravi Kumar, NIT Warangal, Dr Mohd Taufiq, MANIT Bhopal, Prof Prashant Jain, IIITDM Jabalpur, Prof. Kuthe, Prof Uddanwadiker, VNIT Nagpur and many other shall be delivering expert lectures. ALTEM Technologies, Bengaluru and Mecical start up, NUOSSA, Nagpur will discuss about the industrial aspect of 3D printing. Medical doctors, Dr Sushil Mankar, Orhtopedic Surgeon, from N K P Salve Institute of Medical Science & Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur, Dr Lokendra Singh, Neuro Surgeon, Central India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur and Dr Akhilesh Shewale, Dental Surgeon, Swargiya Dadasaheb Kalmegh Smruti Dental College & Hospital, Nagpur, Dr Prashant Naik, ENT Surgeon, will be sharing about the relevance of 3D printing in medical applications.
Dr. Mohammad Taufik from MANIT Bhopal will be the guest for the valedictory function of the FDP on 15th June 2019.
Sampada Wazalwar conducted the proceedings of the inaugural function while Dr Vibha Bora, coordinator of FGDP proposed the vote of thanks. The organising team under the guidance of Dr Preeti Bajaj Director, GHRCE, Nagpur, is working hard for the successful completion of event.
