World Environment Day Celebration on June 5, 2019

The World Environment Day is an annual event that is the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 on the day that United Nations Conference on the Human Environment began. This day is observed to create global awareness about environmental problems the world or a specific country is facing. Activities take place all year round but climax on 5 June every year, involving everyone from everywhere. This year, the theme of the celebration is “Air pollution”.

Raman Science Centre, Nagpur in collaboration with Maharashtra Times, Nagpur will organise Sit & Draw Contest/Poster making Contest, Popular Science Lecture and Open House Quiz to mark the World environment Day June 5, 2019.

The Sit & Draw Contest / Poster making Contest will start at 9.30 am on June 5, 2019. The drawing Sheet will be provided by RSC, other required material is to be brought by the participants. Students from Std. I to X can participate in the contest.

The topics for this contest are 1) Grow More Trees: save Environment, 2) Save Wild Life 3) Pollution Free Nagpur. Participating students may report at the venue 15 minutes before the contest for registration.

Exhibition of Medicinal Plants & Products (from 11.30 am to 5.30 pm)

Popular Science Lecture will be on the topic “Air Pollution” which will be organised at 11.30 am on  June 5 at the auditorium. The lecture will be delivered by Dr Nitin Labhsetwar, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur.

An open House quiz will follow the lecture at 12.15 pm. Students from Std. V to X can participate in it. The questions based on Environment Science will be asked. Successful students will be suitably awarded.

Head of the Raman Science Centre Shri Vijay Shankar Sharma has invited all the people of Nagpur to come and participate in the event in large numbers. Students are requested to participate in large numbers. No fee will be charged for participation. For more details and registration, students may contact Raman Science Centre.
