After being parked at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport here for about a month, the seized aircraft of Jet Airways finally left for Ireland two days ago. The Jet Airways aircraft was seized here on May 14.
According to sources, the company which provides aircraft on the lease had seized the aircraft as per the rules. The wheels of this aircraft were locked while the engine was covered. The lease provider firm had also sent the aircraft to MRO for one day last week.
After maintenance, the aircraft was sent to Ireland on June 11. Prior to dispatch, the company that seized the aircraft paid Rs 15 lakh towards parking charge to MIHAN India Limited.
Meanwhile, the hope of revival of Jet Airways is now looking grim. Companies that provided aircraft on lease have started handing over the planes to new owners in a bid to recover their losses.
Jet shut all operations on April 17 due to a cash crunch. The DGCA has so far deregistered around 100 aircraft including Boeing 737 operated by Jet over non-payment of lease rentals and loan default by the Mumbai-based carrier.
SpiceJet has taken more than 30 ex-Jet aircraft, while Vistara has got six such planes. Jet had a fleet of 119 aircraft at the end of December 2018.
