Operation of several flights from Nagpur was affected on Saturday because of closure of the main runway of Mumbai airport. According to sources, passengers of GoAIr flight G82602 had to wait for several hours at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International airport here today as their flight departed by a delay of nearly four hours.
The scheduled departure time of this flight was 8.50 am. But the flight departed at around 1 pm for Mumbai. Passengers who arrived at the airport as per the scheduled time of the flight faced great inconvenience. However, the airlines did come to their help. They were offered refreshment at the airport by the airlines.
According to sources, the main runway of Mumbai airport has been closed and flight operation has been shifted operations to the secondary runway which is shorter and less efficient than the main runway. This has disturbed the schedule of several flights. Sources said pressure has increased on the secondary runway. Due to its shorter length, the authorities were not able to accommodate all the flights together. Hence, many flights were departed late to reduce the rush.
