Considering the increase in number of cancer cases especially due to tobacco consumption, All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, in support with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Tata Trust recently organised one day workshop to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco consumption.
Nagpur Municipal Health Department and the Tata Trust organised the workshop for all its officers at Hotel Heritage, Civil Line.
The workshop was conducted under the able guidance of Major General of Nagpur University (AIIMS), Dr Vibha Dutt. Chief Guest for the workshop was, Additional Commissioner of Police Ram Joshi, Deputy Director Health Department Dr. K. B.Tumane, Health Officer Dr. Sarita Kamdar, Additional Health Officer, Dr. Vijay Joshi.
All the questions of the Medical Officers who participated in the one-day workshop were addressed by the AIIMS officials.
The workshop was organised with an aim to educate the officers about the ill effects of tobacco consumption that can be fatal to life if causes cancer. Medical officers must be aware of such medical situation and It is important for them to give proper treatment to the patients.
AIIMS on the other hand has made huge contribution in treating patients and healing them from various diseases. However, creating awareness among the community is essential for reducing the number of tobacco addiction.
