Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar and the newly-elected Chairman of Health Committee, Virendra Kukreja inspected the Bhandewadi Dumping Yard on Saturday.
Waste accumulation in the Bhandewadi dumping yard is dangerous for the residents of ​areas located ​near the yard. Specially in the monsoon the condition tends to get worse as it becomes more prone to affect the health of the residents.
Many projects are pending or are in progress under the various initiative led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to eradicate the waste. Work of solid waste-bio-mining project at Bhandewadi is in progress.
On their visit to the place, Pardikar and Kukreja learned about the bad odour and various other problems that the people are facing due to the yard every day.
They also reviewed the progress and speed of the work going at site and directed the concerned officers to speed up the ongoing work.
Additional Commissioner of Police Ram Joshi, Nodal Officer of NMC Clean India Mission Dr. Pradeep Dasarwar, Veterinary Officer Dr. Gajendra Mahal and others also were present during the visit.
