Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University on July 6 declared the schedule for election of University department/ college students’ council for the academic year 2019-2020.
University Vice Chancellor SP Kane, Dr Sitaramvinayak Deshpande, Dr Abhay Mudgal were present along with various other organization members.
Kane informed that since last 22 years no open election had been conducted in university, but from this academic year the university will regularly conduct elections. Kane urged all the students to maintain the sportsman ship even if one has to be against their friends in this election process.
The election will be held in 532 university affiliated colleges. The election which will be held at college level in which one Class Representative, while 4 college representatives will be elected from the respective colleges and thus a team formed will be called as “College student council”.
The elected people will then form a team which will be known as ‘University Student Council’ a separate election will take place for the post of President of the university.
The university president will have the authority to elect more 4 members and will be an active member in the management council meeting and senate meeting as a student representative, Kane added.
The complete election process will commence from September 6. The result is said to be declared on September 30.
While giving instructions to the members of different organization VC Kane further informed that students will not be allowed to take out rally in the campus and will only be allowed to put posters in specific areas provided by the authorities.
