About 17 crore people in the world are affected with Migraine, as now the issue of Migraine is seen everywhere in the world. It is found more in women. This headache disorder happens due to some chemical changes in the brain. According to research, one person in every seven people is affected with Migraine. This information was revealed by a report published by World Health Organisation. The above information was given by Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram from Tropical Neurology. World Federation of Neurology and Indian Academy of Neurology has jointly decided to celebrate World Brain Day on July 22.
In fact, on similar lines, a campaign is being run to create awareness among people regarding Migraine. Dr Meshram said, “An intense headache occurs in a part of the brain due to Migraine. It seems like somebody hit the brain really hard. This affects not just the patient and his family but also behaviour negatively. The pain is so severe and the person doesn’t seem to do understand anything when Migraine attack takes place.â€
The percentage of Migraine cases is increasing: Shankar Migraine specialist Dr Ravi Shankar from Lilavati Hospital said, “Migraine affects professional, personal and social life. The percentage of Migraine cases is rising. There are numerous medicines available for Migraine through which it can be reduced. Nowadays, Migraine is mainly seen affecting youth. It is becoming a huge problem because of the changing lifestyle, physical and mental stress.â€
