G H Raisoni College of Engineering (GHRCE) Nagpur, is organizing a two-day Medical Device Hackathon MEDHA-2019 at GHRCE campus on July 27 and 28. The activity will be carried out under the guidance of BETiC an Initiative of IIT Bombay led by Dr. B. Ravi.
This year, BETiC IIT, Bombay has collaborated with Haffkine Institute of Testing, Research & Training and provided G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur to host MEDHA 2019 in association with IIT Bombay, VNIT Nagpur, DMIMS Wardha and AIIMS Nagpur as Medical Partner and technically supported by AUTODESK FUSION 360.
BETiC, GHRCE will be inaugurated at the hands of Chief Guest Dr. Pramod Padole, Director, VNIT, Guest of Honor Dr. A. M. Kuthe (VNIT) and Dr. Preeti Bajaj. Dr. B. Ravi from IIT Bombay, Sunil Raisoni, Chairman, BOG, GHRCE and Director GHRCE will be present along with many renowned doctors of the city on July 28.
The hackathon will provide a rapid curve of learning about how to define an unmet clinical need and develop an innovative solution in a multi-disciplinary team.
A total of 59 participants from various Institute like Indian Institute of Information Technology Nagpur (IIITN), Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, MIT MANIPAL, NKP Salve Hospital, SDKS Dental college and Hospital, Ramdeobaba college of Engineering and Management, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering Nagpur, J D College of engineering and management, Nagpur, Philips India Limited, Accenture and many have registered for the Event.
The participant’s team of four in which Medical Doctor, Design Engineer, Engineering-1 Mechanical / Manufacturing / Material Engineering-2 Electronic / Electrical / Computer Science, Shall be presenting working prototypes.
Top innovators will win a chance for advance training and BETiC Fellowship to convert idea in to products and their own companies for commercialization apart from prizes. MEDHA brings together doctors who pose unmet needs and engineers who are keen to work in healthcare field. They work continuously over a weekend to create proof-of-concepts of novel medical devices for diagnosis or treatment. These ideas can be taken forward at various BETiC centers or other interested institutes to develop the products and take them to market through a startup company or licensing to industry.
