The South-East-Central (SEC) railways had launched a drive against ticketless passengers and also those traveling without booking their goods. A special drive was carried out to catch the violators from July 10 to July 22 under which 260 trains and 6349 ticketless travelers were charged a penalty for the offence.
The drive was held under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shobhna Bandopadhyay headed by senior Divisional Commercial Manager K V Ramana by a squad comprising of officers from commercial department, traveling ticket examiners, commercial inspectors and RPF personnel. A total fine of Rs.16 lakhs 59 thousand and 520 was recovered from the erring travelers. The railway administration has advised to travel with proper ticket to avoid the action.
98 of people found littering garbage also fined
It is an offense to litter in the trains, railway station area and platforms. However, passengers hardly are seen observing this rule. A fine of 9,800 was also recovered from such passengers found littering the railway station area in the operation.
