Taking into considerations the demand of the city and its future needs, many infrastructure projects are going on for good of Nagpur city, which are being coordinated by various Administrative Agencies. During such construction works, roads within the area of these projects are severely affected and with monsoon such roads have become absolutely unmotorable. Likewise Nagpur is also witnessing water crisis with delay in monsoon.
Taking these issues on priority, delegation of Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) led by its president J. P. Sharma met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, also submitted memorandum and held discussion.
JP. Sharma submitted to union minister that road conditions affected by Liberty to Mental Square Flyover and Pardi Flyover Projects needs extremely urgent repairs as due to excessive rains they have become literally unmotorable. Furthermore they being quite narrow it becomes very difficult for citizens, especially two wheelers to ride as rain water also gets accumulated.
Tejinder Singh Renu – secretary VTA requested that with such large scale of infrastructure projects being formulated by our MP Nitin Gadkari, our city will experience huge influx of outsiders investing in our area, thereby attracting more engineers and man-power from neighbouring region which will double our population within a decade or slightly more. Thereby its quite possible that city will suffer more on water crisis if no future anticipated steps are initiated now. And as such its time we plan another alternative water pipe line from Gosikhurd or likewise.
Appreciating VTA’s efforts, union minister Nitin Gadkari said, we are exploring all possibilities to provide more water to match ever rising demand of water as per city’s need. Gosikhurd to Nagpur water pipe line will require around Rs.500 crore as the distance is more than 50 km. We are also planning a pipe line from Mouda to Gorewada water filtration plant. Admittedly we need alternate water pipe line to cater rising needs and soon necessary decision will be taken on this.
For roads, union minister Nitin Gadkari directed NHAI to immediately repair such service roads at the earliest by passing appropriate remarks on VTA’s memorandum submitted to him .
Other VTA members in delegation were Hemant Trivedi & Amarjeet Singh Chawla – Joint Secretaries and executive body member Rajesh Kanoongo.
