Ahead of Diwali, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation(MSRTC) has made a hike in fares in bus services by 10%. From Thursday onwards, an additional 10 percent fare is charged from the passengers. And the point to be noted here is that the increase in fares is only for some days. The Chandrapur bus depot manager Sachin Dafle has stated that the hike is for 8 to 10 days and the additional fares will be charged from passengers up to November 5.
The hike in fares will definitely give profit to the MSRTC. However, passengers are not happy with this move. As per information from Chandrapur depot, Rs.7.50 was charged for every six km distance. Now it has been hiked into Rs.8.20.And for the long routes, it has been increased by Rs.15 to Rs.30.As per the reports, the bus fares for Chandrapur-Nagpur is Rs.215.And Rs.380 for Amravati and Rs.130 for Gadchiroli and Rs.40 for Rajura, Rs.175 for Aheri.Rs.65 for Gadchandur and Rs.85 for Gondpimpri. The luxury Shivshahi bus fares are also increased and the travellers have to pay Rs.325 for Chandrapur to Nagpur.
