Wardha: In a horrific incident, a famished 10-year-old girl was rescued from her step-father’s house after cops received an anonymous phone call. The girl was reportedly locked up in the house by her own mother and step-father since four days.
When the cops rescued the girl they did not find any food or water inside the small house. The girl was dehydrated and was starving since last four days. The girl was sitting quietly on the floor in a corner of a room when cops broke open the door that was locked from outside.
Police Inspector Yogesh Pardhi said the girl was extremely stressed. “She was so terrified when cops entered the house that she was unable to utter even a word. Women cops tried to talk to her but she kept mum. However, they made her feel comfortable and safe after which the girl narrated her ordeal,†he informed.
The girl told police that she used to live in Bhopal along with her parents. They had a small hut in a slum area and they recently migrated to Wardha. She told cops that her parents had left alone at home four days ago and went away somewhere.
Pardhi said he had received a phone call on and the caller informed about a girl being locked in a house. Acting swiftly, police team rushed to the spot. On peeping inside the house the cops saw a small girl weeping. The girl was unable to give information about her address in Bhopal but cops are on a lookout for her parents. The girl has been sent to Shelter Home. Child Welfare Committee and Child Line have also been informed.
