With new rules and a new start AG Enviro and BVG came forward to act as the new garbage collection agencies. Leaving behind the ways used by previous agency KANAK Resources Management Limited Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) had selected these two companies to maintain the cleanliness of the city.
According to sources it is mandatory for the new garbage collectors to pick up any of the stray thing or mess lying on the road and even collect the garbage from door to door of the residents. Unlike this, the vehicles that have been deployed to collect the garbage are not seen on duty on a regular basis. Coming in contact with TLN the people of Nagpur have been complaining about the unhygienic situation of their area. The citizens are also seen complaining about the irregularity of collection of garbage by AG Enviro as well as BVG. Even the stray garbage, which is seen in the corner of many areas, especially the residential localities.
When TLN came across the vehicles which were seen collecting garbage, their bins were already seen full packed just after collecting garbage from few houses. When asked to the workers, they seem to having trouble in covering areas which are added to the previous list. According to them the vehicles are not enough to cover the patch selected by the NMC.
According to the details provided by reliable sources, even KANAK took a time period of around six months to get on track and regulate their service. Now that the alleged matter that BVG and AG Enviro have got no enough vehicles to provide service to all the areas of Nagpur city, 75% of vehicles have already started collecting the garbage and have got on duties.
It is also noticed that the workers from KANAK are deliberately trying to spoil the image of the two new agencies as they have been asked to work a bit harder and even during their tenure in KANAK they used to sell the reusable garbage which has been stopped while working for BVG AG Enviro.
In this blame game from both the sides the common man and the residents are suffering with their unhygienic localities. A stationary shop owner from Bajaj Nagar told TLN, “ I am unable to see the a proper work by the garbage collectors and even the routinely collection which was said to be collected from door to door has not been active yetâ€.
