A boon to Metro commuters in the city as the metro rail services in city would be available in every 15 minutes from today.
As per information, the Metro train would travel at a speed of 80 kmph. The journey between the two stations of Sitabuldi Interchange and Khapri Metro Station would be reduced to almost half of existing duration of 45 minutes.
This would reduce the time taken to travel on Sitabuldi-Khapri route of Reach-I of Maha Metro. The service would simultaneously start from Sitabuldi Interchange and Khapri Metro Station from 8 am. The last service from Sitabuldi Interchange and Khapri Metro Station would be at 8 pm and 8.30 pm respectively. Overall, 100 services would be held every day in this Reach.
All the necessary tests and trials have been conducted and the necessary permissions from relevant authorities sought. Earlier the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) had given its clearance to the proposal. The operation of train service would be based on Communication Based Train Control (CBTC). Thus the commuters now can travel to their destination with utmost comfort and in lesser time.
