Sagar Karankar won Nagpur District 42nd Weekend Rapid Chess Tournament 2019 organised by Nagpur District Chess Association  in association with Dhanwate National College at NDCA Hall, Congress Nagar on Sunday.In the eighth round tournament, Karankar earned maximum seven points to win the title.
Suhan Deshpande followed him for second place with (6, 40.5) points whereas Parth Lonkar (6, 39.5) achieved third place.
In the last round, Karankar outwitted Suhan Deshpande on the top board. Aditya Bodkhe and Arush Chitre played out a draw. On third board Sumedh Ramteke defeated Saksham Singh. The prizes were distributed at the hands of  chief arbiter  Pravin Pantawane.Interim ranking: 1.
