As the nationwide strike is going on against the anti labour policies central government, a huge and adverse effect is likely to be experienced at the hospitals of Nagpur City. As the nurses, technicians, clerks and class four employees from Mayo and medical will be participating in the strike which will badly affect many emergencies and surgeries which will certainly complicate the matter.
The trade union joint action committee has called for the strike on Wednesday, January 8. Overall 250 nurses, employees and other staff members of Medical College will be part of the strike. Besides this, even the nurses of Mayo Hospital will be joining in the strike.
However, both the hospital had planned a prior scheduling of emergencies and surgeries. On the day of strike it is being said that only emergency surgeries would be performed and all the scheduled surgeries for Wednesday have been cancelled.
As the strike is being done by only employees and staff members, the Government Medical College (medical) put 150 final year students in charge for the duties. Along with the final year students, BPMT students have been also put in charge for a day. The security personnel have also been asked to help the present doctors in any case of emergency.
