Gurudeo Nagar Krida Mandal girls scripted one of the biggest upset on the opening day of the basketball championship played in the season 3 of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav on Monday.
In the U-16 inter-club basketball meet which began at the Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana courts, GKM girls surprised Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) 24-18 with Anisha Sontakke emerging as the top scorer with 12 points. In other games, hosts SNG teams in both the boys and girls’ sections won their respective games. While SNG girls outplayed Nagpur Amateur Sports Association (NASA) 40-9 their boys’ outfit blanked PDSA 89-0.
Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by city Mayor and convener of the Mahotsav Sandip Joshi. President of SNG Avinash Bendre presided over the function. On the occasion NDBA secretary Bhavesh Kuchanwar, working president Pranay Ghate, Shatrughan Gokhale, Ravindra Kulkarni, Hemant Balbudhe, Ashish Bhide, Mahesh Gaherwar, Ayush Agrawal and others were present.Â
