Defending champions Vidarbha will take on Kerala in Elite Group Ranji Trophy match beginning at VCA Jamtha on Tuesday.
After losing two back to back matches, Vidarbha’s chances to make it to the knockout stage are hanged in balance. After six matches Vidarbha has just 17 points with two victories and two losses. They are in eighth place in the points tally which is led by Andhra Pradesh (27) followed by Gujarat (26) and Saurashtra (25).
On the other hand, Kerala who is already out of contention has just nine points to their credit in seven matches. Indian pacer Umesh Yadav is not playing this match as he has reported to the NCA for his fitness test.
Meanwhile, Vidarbha included prolific U-23 batsman Siddhesh Wath in the squad. So far this season he has scored three centuries including two double and attracted the attention of selectors.
