The earlier proposed flyover by Nagpur Maha Metro right opposite to SFS Cathedral has been rejected by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). NHAI canceled the project stating that it could cause a threat to the motorists on that route.
It has also been noticed that the plan has got a strong opposition by the locals in that area. They also submitted a revised design extending the ramp, near LIC square on the directions of Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari.
Atul Kumar, Head of the technical team, NHAI conducted a survey of the spot where the bridge has to be built and looking at the condition of the road decided to reject the proposal. Â
According to NHAI, Maha Metro had submitted a plan which ensured all safety measures. However, during the field visit and examination of the site, it all proved to be wrong.
After looking at all the fake information submitted by Maha Metro, the NHAI committee damned the officials of Metro.
As per NHAI reports, speeding vehicles form the flyover could hit the vehicles on road around the square where the flyover is proposed to be built.
