“Women should be strong enough, both physically and emotionally to move forward in this Competitive World†– Is the message from the International Women’s Day – Panel Discussion held at IGNOU Nagpur Regional Centre. On the eve of Women’s Day IGNOU Regional Centre Nagpur has organized a panel discussion on “Women in Education Administration – Challenges, Opportunities and Solutionsâ€.
Prof. (Mrs.) Rajshree Vaishnav, Dean, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, RTM Nagpur University is the Chairperson for the Panel discussion, Dr.(Mrs.) Jyotsna Meshram, Head Dept. of Chemistry, RTM Nagpur University, Dr.(Mrs.) Sadhana Jain, IGNOU Co-ordinator (P), NRSC – ISRO, Dr.(Mrs.) Naqui Siddiqui, IGNOU Co-ordinator (P), Institute of Science and Dr.(Mrs.) Shakti Sharma, IGNOU Co-ordinator (P), Raisoni Women’s College were the panelists.
At the outset, all the experts are felicitated for their immense contribution in the field of education. They are felicitated with a memento and flower bouquet. Dr. P. Sivaswaroop, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Nagpur explained the objectives of the Programme. He said that women are capable of managing well both the professional and home life, thereby making them the best managers. He said that micromanagement is very crucial for the macro-management of the institution.
Dr.Sivaswaroop said that these experts have proved their mettle in both micro and macro-management. He also stated that the Academic Administration is different from normal Administration.
Dr. Shakti Sharma opined that women are more methodical. Dr.(Mrs.) Naqui Siddiqui said that when women reach certain position some people are jealous and try to create hurdles. She advised one should be committed and sincere to the duties. Dr. Sadhana Jain said that one should be rule-bound to achieve success.
Dr.(Mrs.) Jyotsna Meshram, who is the first woman as Head of the 60 year old Chemistry Department of RTM Nagpur University. She said that she treats everyone as a colleague and expects the sincerity. She quoted Dr. Abdul Kalam “If you salute your duties, you need not salute any oneâ€.
Dr. Meshram stated that we should teach the boys how to treat girls and sensitize them. She advised the girls to be strong enough to face challenges.
Dr.(Mrs.) Rajshree Vaishnav stated that her parents allowed her to choose the Careeer of her choice and never discouraged her. She was never given a feeling that only men can do many things and girls can’t etc. Her parents in law also supported her academic pursuit and career choice. She strives for Best and said that as a woman she always looks for two dimensions – Administrative and emotional. She advised the girls to be strong enough with human values, then no one can stop their progress.
