While the whole country is fighting the Novel Corona Virus, and to counter its adverse effects we are practicing nationwide 40 Days lockdown extended to 3rd Many 2020. While we all are fighting with the pandemic, Nagpur has a vulnerable Population of Senior Citizens who are more susceptible to being attacked with the virus, especially those few who are single due to the death of Partners or due to old age or their children are working outside Maharashtra or even abroad.
Approximately 5570 Senior Citizens live in and nearby Nagpur. Due to Nationwide Lockdown, their family cannot visit them. Thus the branches of Nagpur City Police under the guidance of Honorable Commissioner of Police Mr. Bhushan Kumar Upadhaya namely the Bharosa Cell have assigned tasks to the Damini Cell to start spreading information and awareness regarding the precautions to be taken during the lockdown to stop the spread of Corona Virus and also helping them out in making available items of daily needs such as grocery and medicines, such practices would help them in this tough time.
The senior citizen Cell under the guidance of the Commissioner of Police has also established communication with Senior citizens by visiting them or calling them and helping them out in times of emergencies. The heads of Bharosa Cell have arranged visits to 1720 Senior Citizens and are in constant communication with them so that the Virus does not affect their lives and thus are taking care of the physical and mental well-being of senior citizens. While 14074 have also been contacted over the telephone and the assigned Police Executives of Senior citizen cell are humbly calling to check their well-being.
Also, a special helpline for Senior Citizens has been created where the senior citizens can call personally and explain their inconvenience for the timely help.
