With an ending of the third phase of lockdown across the nation, Maharahstra which is already the most worst affected state due to COVID-19, is now being confirmed that few cases have been spread due to community transmission.
There is some evidence of community transmission of COVID-19 in parts of Mumbai in Maharashtra, said the state disease surveillance officer Dr Pradip Awate . In an English daily, he also mentioned that “overall picture in Maharashtra is that of cluster cases†the official said.
About Mumbai being one of the cities which has a large number of cases Awate said, the scenario and situation in Mumbai way different than that of other metro cities. It has its own socio-economic status and at the same time is densely populated.
Dr Awate has called for an in-depth analysis of each and every case in which is trying his best to find out the link of each case with one another, the travel history and exposures.
Maharashtra state is currently leading the national COVID-19 tally with over 22,000 novel corona virus cases. Till now Maharashtra has recorded 832 deaths so far while 4199 patients have been recovered from the virus.
‘We are getting clusters of corona virus cases in Mumbai and in the entire state of Maharashtra. There is some evidence of community spread not only in Mumbai but in other parts of the state but the overall picture is that we are getting clusters of cases,’ Awate said.
