The long Saturday evening‘s monotony was disintegrated into fragments of estacy and euphoria with the fusion music played by the Kabir’s Café on the platform of “ Breaking Barriers â€.The “Breaking Barriers†now in its ninth session, is an initiative born from the cohesive efforts of Delhi Public School Varanasi, Nashik and Lava, Nagpur.
The platform launches a blend of varied perspectives, ideologies and embalms learning with creativity and uniqueness to give a galvanise image whose sole intention is to produce a well informed and healthy generation.
Under its umbrella, a series of webinars are being conducted and various celebrity guests are invited who share their insights and luminesce on various topics.
The ninth session of the series “Breaking Barriers†held on June 6, 2020, heard the sage Kabir’s Dohas, beautifully orchested into mellifluous songs by Kabir’s café. Neeraj Arya’s Kabir Café is a Mumbai based band known for performing songs composed from Saint Kabir’s Dohas and they fuse different genres of music into their composition.
The bands line up consists of Neeraj Arya (lead vocals and rhythm- guitar), Raman Iyer (Mandolin), Viren Solanki (percussion and drums), Mukund Ramaswami (violin), and Poubuanpou Britto KC (Bass Guitar, backing vocalist). The main aim of the band is to make accessible, the verses of Kabir to the comman man. The bands solo
track “Fakiri†is one of the most popular song by the group till date. Apart from performing at 900 stage shows at various destinations in India and abroad, they have given music to many mainstream movies too.
The guests were introduced by Dr.Pushpy Dutt, Principal DPS,Nashik while Aadya Tarini from DPS,Varanasi, Aadya Podar from DPS, Nagpur and Manas Dushing from DPS, Nashik moderated the program from their respective campus. The program propelled into its melodious mood with the song “Haule Haule Gadi Hako†by the lead vocalist Neeraj Arya.
Violinist Mukund Ramaswami put up a smile on each face by the soulful rendition of the same song through his violin. The lead base guitarist Britto KC sang†Dhundhle se meri soch hai†as an inspirational song for the students who are in the threshold of their lives and still undecided about the future.
Through their life experience, each musician conveyed the message that we should overcome our fears, our struggles to achieve our passion.
Hardships are barriers but the love and feeling of togetherness can transcend them while encompassing all. The song “Muko khahn dhundhe re bande†was lapped up by all. Indeed, the dohas of saint Kabir who was rightly called “The Rock Star†by the lead vocalist Neeraj Arya is about faith of mankind in The Almight. All the three band members regaled the audience with anecdotes about how their song constantly inspires them as well as instil hope in their listeners. The song “Chaurasi ki needh mai mara sadguru†sung by Neeraj Arya stirred the young listeners. Mukund Ramaswami’s “ Vilhari†did moisten quite a few eyes.
The program saw the beautiful song “Jagaat rahena nagar me chor ayaga†sum up the band’s intention to spread the message of humanity, love and unity through music.
The young moderators took up few questions from the audience in the forum and the band members were enthusiastic to answer them all. The session ended with applause from all attendee for making the Saturday evening worthy of remembrance.
The webinar “Breaking Barriers†once again gave a window to all, to peep into a new world – full of hope and beauty. “Breaking Barriers†is a floor where display of courage ,theatre to overcome our fears are shared and learned by the students.
