Vijay Wadettiwar, Minister for OBC Bahujan Welfare, has directed all the educational institutions in Maharashtra not to cancel the admission to students citing non receipt of scholarship amount. Wadettiwar had directed the officials concerned to immediately issue Government Resolution in this regard. According to minister; the educational institutions should not cancel the admission to students citing non-receipt of scholarship amount from the Government for the academic year 2019-20 or earlier years.
The departments concerned should make available all certificates and requisite documents to post-matriculation students to facilitate their admissions. Since the month of March, COVID-19 pandemic has affected the normalcy of life across the world, country, and Maharashtra. The industries and commercial activities, and tax revenue of state governments severely affected. Due to the situation, it was not possible for the government to release the amount of scholarship for students, payable to the educational institutions concerned for the year 2019- 20.
Citing that the Government had come to know that some institutions are cancelling the admissions of students and some are even refusing to issue leaving certificate to students, minister had asked the institutions not to cancel admissions of students.
