The festive season in India begins with the celebration of Birth of Lord Krishna. Krishna Janmashtami 2020, this year was affected by the on-going pandemic in the country.
ISKCON Temple Nagpur near Empress Mall is celebrating the festival with great zeal this year as well but made some significant changes in celebration due to the coronavirus spread in the city.
The entries for the local devotees will be prohibited to the temple and instead, devotees can be a part of various programs and pooja through social media. This year various programs have been organised for the devotees, Live Aarti, Live Darshna, Bhagwadgita recitation, life lesson lectures by various spiritual gurus. The program for Janmashtami in ISKCON Mandir Nagpur will begin from 6 pm on August 12. Live darshan can be seen on YouTube channel ISKCON Nagpur.
The festival is marked by Dahi Handi but due to the steep rise in cases in the Maharashtra, many organizers had decided to call off the celebration this year.
Every year during the celebration, Govindas would re-enact the tales of Lord Krishna stealing butter from a hanging pot, by making human pyramids and pay their respect to Lord Krishna.
