Buldhana: Five doors of Kardi dam were opened on Monday after continuous heavy rains in the district from the last three days. The release of water from the dam has led the Aurangabad-Dhar-Kardiroad bridge submerged into the water. Total 19 gates of Khadakpurna dam and 7 gates of Pentakli project have been opened. Alert has been declared in 21 villages situated near the rivers.
Since the other gates of dam have been partially opened, the water has gushed into the Dhard and Kardi villages. Shweta Mahalle, MLA, and Santosh Shinde, Tehsildar, inspected the situation in these villages. Water also entered into many houses. Revenue Department has made food and lodging arrangement for these people at Zilla Parishad school.
With the release of water, the drinking water problem in Deulgaonraja, Sindhkhedraja, Mehkar and Chikhli and nearby areas in Buldana has been solved. The Yelgaon dam has filled to its capacity and water has been released through Godbole automatic gates. As a result, the water is flowing over the bridge near Sakhali diversion on Buldana-Chikhli highway. The traffic has come to halt on the road. Since the rivers and nullahs are flooded, the water entering the fields have destroyed the crops to a great extent.
