Ashalata Khapre has been appointed as the first female police inspector of the traffic branch. She has been posted at Sakkardara zone after the transfer of PI Mahesh Chauhan.
The step has been taken as part of police commissioner Dr.B.K.Upadhyaya’s vision to promote women officers in crucial positions in the police department. Officer Khapre has worked in accident cell and court cell. During her stint in the accident cell, she worked under DCP Vikram Sali.She had surveyed accident spots in the city and identified the black spots, which helped in reducing accident rates in city.
