In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the civic administration has appealed citizens to immerse idols of Lord Ganesh at their homes. Though, civic body has made arrangements of artificial tanks at some lakes side, it would be good if citizens avoid these spots and do not gather in large numbers. Mayor Sandip Joshi inspected the arrangements made for immersion of idols at various places. Joshi interacted with civic officials at Futala, Sonegaon, Sakkardara and Gandhi sagar lakeside, where artificial tanks are put in place for convenience of citizens.
People can place the idol in bucket and let it dissolve in next few days and the water there after be thrown away. Since infection of COVID-19 has increased off late, people even if they arrive at lakes should maintain physical distance, avoid crowding and always wear the masks. At many places civic body had placed artificial tanks at almost every other square that provided easy access for citizens to immerse the idols of Lord Ganesh. This ensured streamlining crowd at lakes. Mayor in his appeal said just two persons come for immersion at artificial tanks. NMC has also roped in NGOs for collection of nirmalya at the five lakes.
