The much awaited Civil Service (Prelim) Examination-2020 conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be held on October 4 (Sunday) at 45 centres in Nagpur city. As per information, a total of 17,701 candidates will appear for the examination from Nagpur centre this year. The preliminary examination will be conducted in two sessions: Session-I from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, and Session-II from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. For successful and smooth conduct of the examination, around 1,000 officers and employees have been deputed as Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, clerk etc. to all 45 centres in district. Besides, 45 local inspection officers have been appointed for the centres. UPSC has made certain changes for Civil Service (Prelim) Examination-2020. Accordingly, candidates appearing for the examination will be admitted to the examination centres till 9.20 am for the first session and till 2.20 pm for the second session. After that, no candidate will be admitted to the examination centres.
The candidates will be allowed to appear for the examination only at the centre designated by UPSC, and not at any other centre in the district. Ravindra Thakare, District Collector, has appealed to the candidates to remain present at the designated examination centre at the scheduled time. In view of increasing cases of COVID-19 in Nagpur city, the candidates are required to wear face-mask at the examination centre as per the instructions of UPSC. The candidates are also required to carry hand-sanitiser with them and take special care in view of COVID-19, he added. The candidates appearing for the examination are required to read the information on the admission letter carefully and follow all the instructions strictly. No extra time shall be granted to any candidate if he/she reaches the examination centre late, owing to COVID-19 pandemic or metro railway project works or other reasons.
Candidates are not allowed to carry calculator, mobile phone, i-Pad or other electronic gadgets at the examination centre, except for their admit card, identity card, black ball-point pen and material permitted by UPSC. The administration has appealed to the candidates to co-operate in smooth conduct of the examination.
