Dr Bhimaraya Metri has taken charge as the new Director of Indian Institute of Management-Nagpur (IIM-N). He took over from Prof L S Murty, who helmed the IIM-N from 2017 to 2020. Prior to joining IIM Nagpur, Dr Metri served as Director of IIM-Trichy. Earlier, he had stints at L&T Institute of Project Management at Vadodara, MDI at Gurgaon, IMI at New Delhi, and BITS-Pilani. An alumnus of Government College of Engineering, Karad, and Shivaji University, Kolhapur, he earned a Ph.D. from IIT-Powai. He has carved a reputation for himself with his rich experience in teaching, research and administration with a number of National and International institutions of note. Currently, Dr Bhimaraya Metri is serving as Chairperson of various National institutions such as All India Board of Management Studies, AICTE, New Delhi; AIMA Board of Studies, New Delhi; and HR & Innovation Committee, Bureau of Indian Standards, New Delhi.
He is also a Member of the prestigious Indian National Committee for Co-operation with UNESCO (INCCU) under the chairmanship of Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Union Minister of Education. IIM-Nagpur is steadily making its presence felt as a B school at par with its predecessors. It became one of the first management institutions in the country to take its teaching and admission process entirely online in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. It is gearing up to move to its state-of the-art permanent campus at MIHAN. Under the leadership of Dr Metri, IIM-N is poised to take new strides in the domain of management education and research.
