Finally, a reason to smile for the dry fruit vendors of the city as with the fuel prices coming down dry fruit traders of the city are witnessing double-digit growth in its sales. The retail and wholesale shops in the city located at Itwari, Dharampeth, Sadar are witnessing a huge spike in sales. Traders said that corporate buying which was absent for quite some time has come alive.
Another reason for the increase in sales is the drop in prices. Prices of dry fruits have reduced by 20-25 percent as there has been bumper production in major producing countries like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
For gifting purposes as well as people prefer dry fruits over any other edible products as it can be consumed for up to six months whereas any other edible product gets spoiled within a few days.
Speaking to The Live Nagpur, owner of Kesaryaji Foods Ronak Vora said, “We would definitely admit that due to the pandemic our demand in the festive season this year has gone down by 20-25%, but it is increasing and we are quite confident that the sales will pick up as soon as the COVID situation normalizesâ€.
