Chandrapur: Violation of environmental rules came into light in Chandrapur district with oil spilling in Irai river. After receiving information regarding oily water of the river, Officials of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) visited the spot to probe the matter.
As per the sources, the news came into fore after an environmentalist and social worker from the district Suresh Chopane, noticed oil floating on the riverbed.
To get into the details of it, Chopane along with his team visited the spot to find the actual reason of the oil spill.
Chopane and his team brought the matter into the notice of the MPCB. Following the complaint MPC also visited many nearby spots of the Irai river to know the source of the spill. The investigation in this matter is underway.
It is worth mentioning here that the National Green Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi, constituted a joint committee comprising Central Pollution Control Board and MPCB to find out latest reports of compliance of environmental norms in the district. After the NGT order, this is the first complaint of environment violation in the district
