Collective efforts needed to stop the spread of Aids and COVID: Dr Shantanu Sengupta

Global solidatory and shared responsibility being the theme of this year’s World Aids Day, doctors of the orange city also believe in the concept of shared responsibility.

HIV/Aids which directly affect the immune system also make it difficult for the body to ward off other infection. To fight any disease one needs to have a strong immune system. “Both in Aids and in COVID-19 our immunity is compromised. So it is very important for all of us to ensure that our immunity is at its peak,” said Dr Shantanu Sengupta, Cardiologist while talking to the TLN team.

Shantanu who works at the Sengupta Hospital in Ravi Nagar also emphasized on collective efforts to tackle the spread of the disease. “Whether it’s Covid or AIDS at the moment we are not having any treatment for these diseases. And hence as a social call I would urge everyone to behave responsibly. It’s not a job of an individual, rather if we have to stop the spread of these diseases we will have to collectively work in one direction,” added Sengupta.
