Chandrapur: MLA Pratibha Dhanorkar’s efforts of inducting women as engineers in the mining filed have paid off. The Higher and Technical Education Ministry in a Government resolution gave a green signal to girl students to explore the fields of mining as engineers.
The department has directed all the institutions under All India Technical Education Council to allow the admission of girl students in mining engineering faculty. This development came after MLA Dhanorkar took the matter to the Ministry appealing for women in mining work.
Chandrapur district has huge natural resources and dozens of coal mines are scattered over its landscape. WCL provides large number of opportunities to mining engineers.
There is also significant rise in the mineral industries all over the country. Moreover, the mineral industry is also flourishing in foreign countries.
The Ministry’s decision due to MLA Dhanorkar’s efforts will provide equal opportunities to girl students in mining
engineering the region that has huge natural resources and dozens of coal mines.
Lakhs of girl students will benefit from this decision from the next academic session of 20-21.
