A move to strengthen the framework of the proposed Shakti Act to take effective and speedy action on the complaints of atrocities against women and children, meetings of the Legislative Committee are to be conducted with the invited women and lawyers associations in the State. In that regard, the first meeting will be held at Vidhan Bhavan in Nagpur on today at 3 pm. The meeting will be held in Mumbai, Aurangabad and Nagpur. For this, women’s associations and lawyers’ associations will be invited. The second meeting will be held on January 19 at Mumbai and on January 29 at Aurangabad. Invited women’s organisations has been given time at 3 pm while lawyers’ association has been given time at 5 pm.
The Home Minister appealed to the citizens to send their suggestions and amendments to make this law more effective. The bill has been sent to a joint committee of members of both houses of the legislature. Marathi and English copies of the Bill are available for sale at Government Libraries, Nagpur, Pune, Aurangabad, Kolhapur and Government Printing Press, Charni Road, Mumbai. A copy of the bill is also available on the website. Concerned parties should send their suggestions in the form of amendment statement in three copies to Legislative Secretary Rajendra Bhagwat, Legislature, Backbay Reclamation Mumbai or email a1.assem-bly.mls@gmail.com by 5 pm on January 15.
