Shiva Iyer ruled the roost again as the in-form player emerged champion in the SN Shrivastava and Kalavatidevi Shrivastava Memorial Nagpur District Online Blitz Chess tournament which concluded here on Monday.
The meet was organized and conducted by the Nagpur District Chess Association. In all, 48 players have participated in the tournament.
In the nine-round tourney, Shiva Iyer maintained his clean slate to romp home with maximum of nine points to his credit.
There was a two-way fight for the second spot as both Dishank Bajaj and Jay Sawalakhe finished with seven points each. However, on the basis of better tie-break scores, Dishank was adjudged as the runner-up, while Jay had to be satisfied with the third spot.
VK Shrivastava was declared as the best veteran player as he notched up six points from nine rounds.
The top 12 players, top three veterans, and top three girls received cash prizes. The total prize money was Rs 5,000.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Pravin Pantawane and FA Umesh Panbude.
