It was a great mix of youth and experience as 22 cyclists completed a 150-km Brevet Populaire (BP), organized by Nagpur Randonneurs (NR) here recently.
The BP, which went to Karanja on Amravati Road, was led by Nagpur’s first woman Super Randonneur Jyoti Diwani and Race Across West (1500-plus km in 7 days) finisher Sachin Shirbavikar.
Jyoti and Sachin, who returned to randonneuring after a gap, inspired the lot comprising 15 first-timers.
The BP was the second stepping stone to the ultimate cycling goal this month of becoming a randonneur (finishing 200-km brevet) in 3 weeks flat.
Nagpur Randonneurs is a cycling club under Audax India Randonneurs, which is affiliated to Audax Club Parisien (ACP). Randonneuring is the biggest cycling activity in the world and randonneurs the biggest community.
You can become a part of this community by participating in a minimum 200-km brevet organized by Nagpur Randonneurs. Brevet Populaires are preparatory rides of 100-km and 150km.
Apart from Jyoti and Sachin, Sanjay Singh, Pradeep Singh, Aniket Shegaonkar, Himanshu Roy, Biranshu Roy, Shreyas Nisal, Akshat Kumar, Lalit Nirwan, Swati Kulkarni, Piyush Kotkar, Aashay Kekatpure, Salil Ilme, Kishor Ganjare, Gaurao Gajbhiye, Milind Chittawar, Shubham Chaoji, Prajakta Aswar, Anne Wilkinson and Kiran Belsare finished Sunday’s 150-km BP.
