Nagpur Municipal Corporation under its mission ‘Cycle for Challenge’ started the work for its 18 kms dedicated cycle track. The work was inaugurated today morning by Radhakrishnan B, Commissioner NMC, in the presence of Bhuveneswari B, CEO Smart City.
While talking to media after the inauguration of the work Radhakrishnan B, said, in first phase route of 6 kms will be completed in 5 days. Counting the salient features of the cycling track Commissioner added that it will be a completely dedicated and independent rout for the cyclist.
“Cycling is a good activity not only in the pandemic period, but also for the general health and fitness. It is environment friendly and save fuels too,†Radhakrishnan said.
Bhuveneswari S, CEO added that on the request of ‘Indian Cycle Sport Challenge’ the route has been developed under the Smart City project. “We wish to develop cycling not only as a sport activity, but citizens should use cycle for their regular activities as a means of transport,†She expressed. The dedicated cycle path will also be developed in the future projects of smart city, She emphasized.
The first phase of 6 kms route starts from Ramgiri, Ladies Club, Law College Square, Maharajbagh Square, VCA Sadar, Japaness Garden and back to Ramgiri. Cateline Infra Product Pvt Ltd, is developing the cycle track.
