Title favourites Samarth Vyayam Shala along with Nagpur City Police, Youth Sporting Club Katol ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams stormed into the quarterfinals of the 53rd Nagpur District Volleyball Championship, organized by the Anand Nagar Sports Association under the auspices of Nagpur District Volleyball Association, here on Friday.
Multiple champions Samarth Vyayam Shala maintained their dominance and overpowered Sadbhavana Krida Mandal 25-15, 25-8.
Nagpur City Police prevailed over Youth Sporting Club Katol ‘B’ 25-20, 25-23. However, Katol’s ‘A’ team overcame National Club, Kamptee 25-20, 25-17. Later bouncing back in style, Youth Sporting Club Katol ‘B’ notched up a close 25-11, 23-25, 15-6 win over Sadbhavana Krida Mandal to make it to the last eight stage.
Earlier in the morning session, Pratap Nagar-based Samarth Vyayam Shala downed Venus Sports Association ‘B’ 25-18, 22-25, 15-11.
In another close encounter, Navjeevan Club edged past Kolba Swami Club, Dhapewada 23-25, 25-22, 15-6. The quarterfinals will be played on Saturday evening.
