Government medical College and Hospital (GMCH) is gearing up to become completely solar power dependent. After the installation of solar panels, GMCH is expected to produce 1265 kilowatt of electricity which will save around 10 crore of the institution. GMCH in its move to turn green have already sanctioned rupees six crore from District Planning and Development council (DPDC) for the solar project.
GMCH which is Asia’s biggest Government Medical College in terms of Area and number of seats, gets an average of 90 lakhs as the monthly electricity fund. The GMCH gets around eight crore as grant from the state government annually. This solar project will help the 196 acre college to eliminate the liability of power bills.
