Despite several warnings from senior officials of various departments, citizens are still ignorant and are heedless of lockdown norms. Traffic is as usual in the city and commuters are infringing the norms of commuting during the lockdown. The cops are trying their best to minimize the movement by placing checkpoints in the city, but citizens seem to have found loopholes.
Strict warnings of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Collector Ravindra Thakre, Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, Guardian minister Nitin Raut, and many more officials are been ignored by the citizens. The commuters are still violating Covid-19 lockdown norms despite the second wave of the virus. Two-wheelers that are permitted with only one rider are seen in the city with two and three riders. Even the four-wheelers that are permitted with one driver-one passenger norm are commuting with 4-5 people.
Young boys and girls are seen without helmet and masks trying to escape and bypass the checkpoints using alternate routes. They are using alternate lanes in order to trick the police force. Taking this into account, police officials have started to block the alternate lanes near checkpoints so that irresponsible people like these can be caught hold of.
Senior officials of Nagpur city police including CP Amitesh Kumar, Addl CP Sunil Phulari, DCP Zone II Vinita Sahu and Senior PI Sitabuldi Atul Sabnis are on rounds to ensure stringent action against violators of the lockdown. They are also ensuring that essential service employee’s travel is not interrupted.
The senior officials are appealing to the citizens to stay at home and step out only if necessary.
