Unit-III of Crime Branch raided a flat in the Ganeshpeth area and caught two bookies red-handed while accepting bets on IPL cricket match being played between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, cops raided Flat No 305, Rahul Residency, Wazalwar Marg and caught Vishal Arun Kaleshware and Chandan Sadashiv Rathod when they were accepting bets on their cell phones when the match was being played between 9.40 pm and 10.40 pm.
Another accused Ashfaq Ansari (38), a resident of Mominpura, managed to give a slip to the police. During the raid the team seized cash, cell phones and other material collectively worth Rs 77,000.
A case under Sections 4 and 5 of the Gambling Act has been registered against them at Ganeshpeth Police Station.
The raid was conducted by Senior PI Sandipan Pawar, API Pawan Morey, and constabulary staff under Additional CP (Crime) Sunil Fulari and DCP (Detection) Gajanan Rajmane.
