In the wake of rapid surge in coronavirus cases in State, the state government has restricted the shops of all essential commodities to operate from 7 am to 11 am. Due to this, the traffic of vehicles after 11 am is very less. At the employees same time, working on the petrol pump are also not ready to come to work due to fear of Covid infection.
In view of such an emergency situation, it has been decided by the Vidarbha Petroleum Dealers Association to keep all petrol pumps in Nagpur city open from 7 am to 7 pm only. Sharing the information, president of the VPDA Amit Gupta said that till the time of the state government’s lock down, petrol pumps will continue to work according to the above mentioned time.
For emergency transport services, pumps operated by oil companies will continue.
There are about 85 petrol pumps in Nagpur of petroleum dealers, while there are 10 petrol pumps operated by oil companies and police administration.
VPDA president Amit Gupta said that the off-take of petrol, diesel from pumps has reduced by 65 per cent on an average due to Covid infection and lockdown.
In the past, when the situation had improved a little, the daily average of sale was around 6,500 liters at the petrol pumps, but now it has come down to 2,500 liters per day on average.
