Idle mind is a devils workshop, the proverb is coming true with many city youths. As no college, no work, restrictions due to lockdown, is compelling them to explore new things on mobile through internet. Talking to regular friends is also boring after sometime.
Exploring new sites good or bad is also one of the hobbies of today’s youth. Most of them are engaged in good informative sites, but some of them also explore porn or dating sites. Often most of them fall prey to such fake sites, which they realize after paying heavy sum, which may be in tune to 50,000 or even 1lakh rupees. Some of them borrow this amount from friends or other sources, and to repay them back get involved in illegal activities.
Dr Ashok Baghul, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Cell, admitting that the number of cheating cases of chatting and then taking hefty sum of rupees from a person, has increased many folds.
“Foolishness is always the root cause of cybercrimes. The majority of the cases are not reported to us, due to fear.†He added despite several awareness programs, the age is such that youth or even adults are attracted to such sites. Lockdown has given ample time to all. “But it’s my honest suggestion to the youths, to indulge themselves in some creative work, which will enhance their skills,†Dr Baghul said.
He added that Crime branch has already deputed signal officers, to trace such sites, and even the police is putting all efforts to bring such culprits behind the bars.
“I will again request the youth not to get lured or emotional by their tactics. After seeing the half naked picture or so, the boy Is completed trapped. One must be very care full , especially on video calls from new friends or unknown friends
