The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has collected nearly Rs 1,73,68,000 in fines from 38018 persons for not wearing masks in public places from September 4, 2020 till May 16, 2021.
The fine has been collected from the citizens walking in public without mask. Initially a fine of Rs 200 was charged from 5470 citizens and total Rs 10,94,000 was collected. Later the fine was raised to Rs 500 and collected Rs 1,62,74,000 from 32548 persons for not wearing mask.
Although the number of corona patients has decreased, the risk of corona virus infection has not been averted. Even now, in many places, safe distances are not observed. In urban areas, it is dangerous to see unmasked citizens walking around. Therefore, the nuisance detection team is taking strict action against the citizens who are endangering their own health, family health and the health of the society in such an irresponsible manner and they are being given masks.
