As per the new guidelines of the Union Government about Covid-19 vaccination, the gap of 12 to 16 weeks between two doses of Covishield now. As per the new guidelines, the second dose of Covishield vaccine will now be given after 12 to 14 weeks after the first dose is given. The district collector has appealed to people that people who have taken the first dose of Covishield vaccine and three months have completed, should go for the second dose considering the date of the vaccination and availability of the vaccine.
The Covid vaccination programme started from January 16, 2021 in state and vaccination for different age groups is going on in phased manner. Earlier, the gap of six to eight weeks between two doses of Covishield vaccine was kept. Now the duration between two doses of this vaccine has been increased. However, there is no change in previous guidelines for Covaxin. Many people are reaching vaccination centres without considering the gap of three months.
