The drop in coronavirus cases in the district has led to ease many restrictions and now the National Health Mission has issued orders to Covid Care Centres (CCCs) or Dedicated Healthcare Covid Centres (DCCH) which have less than fifty percent Covid patients to close down their operations and shift their patients to another place.
The order further says that these centres should cut down on the number of contractual workers. The decision of NHM would throw near about 200 contractual workers at these centres out of jobs.
According to information gathered here, under such conditions, Nagpur district would have only 2 DCHCS and eleven CCCs.
In the CCC housed at MLA hostel, there are only 12 patients. During the first wave of Covid, MLA Hostel, VNIT, Ravi Bhavan, Vanamati, and Symbiosis College were transformed into dedicated Covid centres.
Following hike in the number of Covid cases, patients with light symptoms were quarantined in CCCs. Later the centers were not in use as cases drastically went down.
