Despite several media reports claiming that 11 samples have been tested positive with Delta Variant (B1.617.2) in Nagpur NMC officials have ruled out the reports.
NMC has been preparing to tackle the possible COVID-19 third wave and is constantly making changes in the healthcare system to be prepared for the delta variant which is now a major concern in the country.
According to several media reports, the Delta variant (B1.617.2) virus was found in samples among eleven COVID-19 positive people including two who returned from Kolhapur to Nagpur. However, NMC officials have ruled out such reports of samples being tested with Delta variant in Nagpur as no such information has been received to the NMC till now.
On July 1 eight patients in Umred were tested with ‘Delta variant’ which is the cause of the second wave of corona in the country. 10 members of a family got infected with Covid, after coming in contact with a relative who came from Mumbai for a wedding ceremony. Initially, the virus spread rapidly among eight people. Thus their samples were sent to NEERI lab for testing.
